How Climate Fresk supercharged Dawn’s climate confidence at work and home
Dawn is a Product Manager at Genesis and in April 2025, participated in a Climate Fresk workshop run by Climate Training Co organised by her employer. Dawn had a general idea about climate change, but says the Fresk workshop helped her “understand the science behind it, the causes and effects, and the correlations between everything more deeply.”
What happened after the workshop
Inspired by the Climate Fresk card game and action brainstorm, Dawn wanted to take her own climate actions:
Purchased an Electric Vehicle (EV)
Dawn’s car needed replacing and, after learning about the impacts of transport on emissions, said: “It felt wrong to be replacing our car with something that still relied on fossil fuels.”
The training gave her the extra push to commit to an EV, purchasing a secondhand Nissan Leaf from a reputable dealer.

Switched from gas heating to electric at home
Dawn had the family home gas heating replaced with an electric system. Removing the gas meter cost less than $200, and the family no longer has to pay daily line charges for gas.
Dawn loves that the benefits aren’t just financial: “The electric hot water is more consistent than our old gas system, and our home is drier now we’ve removed the gas and improved the insulation.”
Organised a second Climate Fresk training for her team
Dawn helped organise a second Climate Fresk training for her direct Business Product team. The team is focused on helping customers electrify their households so the Fresk was tailored to this purpose, focusing on simple climate reasoning for electrification. The team now feels more confident talking about climate with customers and have continued internal discussions following the training.
Working at a power company helped Dawn understand that she could request the gas connection be removed from her home property, as well as how different electricity tariffs can enable cheaper overnight EV charging.
Looking ahead Dawn says: “I want everything in my household to be as sustainable and efficient as possible, and to have as little reliance on fossil fuels as possible. Our next goal is to get solar panels!”

Dawn’s top tips
Make a plan to electrify. Your car and home energy are likely your two largest fossil fuel users.
Your energy company can probably help with more than you realise. Do your research, ask what they offer, or shop around and request free quotes online.
Organise a Climate Fresk for your team or community. The training can be tailored to ensure relevance for the audience.
